About Harris County ESD 80

Harris County Rural Fire Prevention District No. 8 was created May 2, 1998, under Chapter 794 of the Health and Safety Code.  Effective September 1, 2003, Texas Legislature Senate Bill 1021 converted all rural fire prevention districts to emergency services districts and mandated a name change to Harris County Emergency Services District No. 80.  In accordance with Senate Bill 1021, the District now operates under Chapter 775 of the Health and Safety Code.  The District was established to provide operating and capital funds for the contracting of fire protection services to the residents of the District.  The District contracts with the Crosby Volunteer Fire Department for these services.
